A 49-year-old Lee County man was arrested by Collier deputies on Friday after they say he fired a gun toward his former landlord.

According to an arrest report, Paul Neil Saxton went back to his former home in the 1200 block of Ivy Way in Central Naples to retrieve his gate for a trailer he was hauling, but it was no longer there.

The victim said she told Saxton the gate was no longer there and asked him to leave.

Saxton then “became enraged and yelled at her, stating that she didn’t know who she was messing with.”

Saxton left the driveway, spun out in his Jeep, leaving marks in the gravel and fired his gun, the victim told authorities.

She ran for life and took cover, the arrest report states.

No one was struck.

Saxton initially told deputies  his wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, had fired the gun, but they determined it had been Saxton.

His wife was released from custody.

Saxton, meanwhile, faces an aggravated assault charge and carrying a concealed weapon.

Deputies also found brass knuckles on Saxton.

He remains in custody.
