A person in Fort Myers gets a life-changing win in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

A lottery ticket sold in Fort Myers matched all six numbers in last week’s Mega Millions drawing. That ticket is worth more than $200 million.

That big score is all the buzz at the 7-Eleven on Colonial Boulevard and Metro Parkway, where the ticket was sold.

Some are calling the big win a sign of hope during a tough time.

“It’s good to hear good news like that. That’s somebody at least you know, it’s their money. Who knows this person (if) they’ve lost everything or not, but maybe he can help that community and help somebody in need,” said Aldo Hernandez.

The big winner has to split the jackpot with another winner in California. The 7-Eleven gets a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Florida Lottery did not say if the person who purchased the ticket has cashed in on their winnings. Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. However, to elect the one-time, lump-sum cash payment option in the amount of $123.95 million, the claim must be filed within 60 days after the winning draw date.
