Many people are now preparing for another storm while still recovering from Hurricane Ian.

Even though Subtropical Storm Nicole isn’t expected to be as intense, it doesn’t mean there won’t be damage.

Christina Kraus lives on Coconut Circle South in East Naples. She and many of her neighbors are still dealing with the storm surge from Ian that flooded their homes.

Kraus said she had no choice but to throw away most of her ruined belongings.

For weeks, there were mountains of debris sitting on curbs in front of every home. Now, more than a month later, Kraus and her neighbors are busy preparing for another storm with their fingers crossed they don’t lose what they have left.

“Oh man, 33 years, we never thought Ian was ever going to be anything like it was. So just be prepared and make sure that you have everything ready way ahead of time. That way, you’re not having any surprises.”

WINK News went inside Kraus’ home, which is completely gutted. She said the flooring she ordered is on hold because of Nicole.

In the meantime, she’s securing all her construction materials and tying down or putting away loose items.
