A vehicle burst into flames on I-75 in Bonita Springs Monday evening, bringing traffic to a standstill.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, one pickup truck was involved, and nobody was injured because the driver and passenger, both males, ran from the scene on foot.

FHP said the pickup truck was on the inside lane near mile marker 114 when it began to smoke and eventually caught on fire.

The driver took the pickup truck left off the road, crashed with the cable barrier, and was consumed in flames.

Fire trucks, law enforcement vehicles, and EMS trucks arrived on the scene to put out the fire.

Traffic was brought to a standstill while crews worked on the fire. A roadblock was placed in the left lane for emergency vehicles shortly after the fire.

Around 8:30 p.m. WINK News saw a tow truck removing the charred remains of the pickup truck from the median.

The crash remains under investigation.
