After weeks of recovery, a Florida Congressman takes his guardian angel on a trip to Washington, DC.

In January, Florida Representative Greg Steube fell off a ladder at his Sarasota home. Luckily, a man was there delivering a package for Stube’s wife.

That man instantly ran to help Steube and called 911.

On Wednesday, WINK News spoke to Darell Woodie, the man who helped save Stube’s life.

“All of this happened very rapidly. So it, the limb, which was pretty big, hit the ladder. Congressman was ejected slightly towards [an] upward direction. And then he began to come down and appeared that from here, I was looking at it in a very spiritual way that he is almost like he had wings like he was an angel. Because he was so high up there. And I was still at the gate. It was unbelievable that as he was going down. I did hear the thump even through the chainsaw. And I was begging them to get up, brush yourself off, and come to the gate. And we talked for a minute, and he tells me that he’s OK. Apparently, that wasn’t the case. And so I had to immediately act,” said Woodie.

Stebue sustained multiple injuries, all of which were nonlife-threatening.

As a thank you to Woodie, Stebue invited him to the State of the Union Address that took place Tuesday night.
