For the last weekend in February, the German American Social Club of Cape Coral returned with its first Biergartenfest since Hurricane Ian.

After sorting through many permitting issues and repairs, the first Biergartenfest since Ian was a success. Saturday and Sunday were filled with fun, food and music, and attendees say they were filled with joy and gratitude.

“We’re certainly glad that, you know, the community has been able to come back since the hurricane,” said Marco Island resident Pamela Lesher. “It’s nice to see that things are up and coming now. It was so sad to see the devastation and the loss that our communities have experienced.”

“It was hard to get here; we had to do a lot of work to get here,” said Stephen Bauer, president of the German American Social Club of Cape Coral. “We had a lot of expenditures to get here, as well, with the clearing of the garden, which makes this festival possible, and securing the building.”

If you missed the Biergartenfest, don’t worry; there are three more coming up through March and April.
