La Ola on Fort Myers Beach will begin moving the shipping containers they use for their restaurant onto trailers on Tuesday.

According to their press release, La Ola expects the work to be done in time for happy hour at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Due to FEMA regulations relating to flood zones, the restaurant was cited for the shipping containers they are using as a makeshift building in Time Square. Those regulations say the containers need to be mobile in case of a storm that would require them to evacuate.

The Town of Fort Myers Beach offered La Ola the solution of putting the containers on wheels so the restaurant could remain open on the beach. They would have to find somewhere else to set up shop if they didn’t.

La Ola says a crane will lift the containers onto trailers, which will then have decks, stairs, and railings built so customers and employees can reach them.
