Governor Ron DeSantis is a fan favorite in Florida, but the question is: will Floridians have to learn to share the governor in the future?

Desantis has been on a Florida tour this week as he’s been promoting his new memoir called “The Courage to be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival.”

He isn’t pulling any punches in his speeches, even with his own party.

“One of the themes of the book is that part of the problem with the Republican Party has been the entrenched Republicans in D.C. are just out of touch with our desires here in Florida and other ways across the country.”

This tour has sparked a new round of rumors that DeSantis will run for president. As the governor visited Collier County, WINK News was there to hear what people had to say about that idea.

People booed when DeSantis referenced Dr. Anthony Fauci and clapped when he talked about Florida being the place woke goes to die and when he ended his speech with a few words hinting at a presidential run.

Thousands of people showed up here in Naples to hear DeSantis preach his favorite word; freedom.

“We’re here to see Ron DeSantis,” said a supporter at DeSantis’ event on Wednesday.

“My daughter calls him daddy… Daddy DeSantis,” said another supporter, excited to hear the governor speak.

There’s not much that these Desantis supporters won’t do for the governor, so it’s no secret they support his new book that covers themes such as the way he handled the COVID-19 pandemic, the ban on the vaccine passports, and so on.

The governor riled up the Naples crowd, among his first stops on his nationwide book tour. He talked much about his accomplishments, Washington D.C., and compared Florida to other states.

DeSantis also gave a clue as to what’s next. “We’ve only begun to fight.”

“We just love him. We love everything he’s doing for our state, and hopefully, he’ll have the opportunity to do it for our country,” said a DeSantis supporter.

Desantis’ tour continues in Florida on Thursday. He’s expected to visit Houston Friday and Dallas Saturday before going to Iowa, a key primary state, later this month.
