A person is fighting to recover after being shot in Lehigh Acres, and we now know that this was a road rage shooting.

The victim told deputies this all started because he had to merge in front of the suspect’s car on Daniels Parkway near Jet Blue Park.

Two people were arrested.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office report says 30-year-old Kyrah Harris was the driver of the car, and Harris began following the victim after he merged in front of her car.

But it was the passenger, 34-year-old Emmanuel Merricks, deputies said, who got physical.

The victim and Merricks exchanged words and blows.

The arrest report says Merricks said, “I’m going to kill you” and went to get something from his car.

The victim told detectives he got back in his car and sped away, afraid for his life, with Merricks firing at the car as he drove away.

The victim was shot in the ribs and leg through the left rear driver’s side window.

A witness called 911 for help, and he was taken to the hospital.

Merricks is accused of shooting the victim multiple times while he tried to get away.

Both Merricks and Harris face several charges for this road rage shooting.

Merricks remains in custody at the Lee County jail.
