List of shelters in SWFL ahead of Milton

As Hurricane Milton approaches, shelters are opening across Southwest Florida to provide safety and refuge for residents.

Here are some shelters that have opened ahead of the hurricane:

Lee County

Three shelters in Lee County opening Monday at 3 p.m.:

  • Island Coast High School in Cape Coral
  • Dunbar High School in Fort Myers
  • Estero Recreation Center in Estero
  • A Special Needs Shelter has also opened. You have to pre-register for access. Click here for more information.
  • Transportation to any shelter is free with LeeTran. Go to any LeeTran stop and say you want to be taken to a shelter.

Charlotte County

  • The hurricane shelter at the Babcock Ranch School Field House at 43281 Cypress Pkwy.
  • Kingsway Elementary School, 23300 Quasar Blvd., in Port Charlotte.
  • Liberty Elementary School, 370 Atwater St., in Port Charlotte.
  • Neil Armstrong Elementary School, 22100 Breezeswept Ave., in Port Charlotte.

Collier County

The county will announce shelter locations, including a special needs shelter, later Tuesday morning, as they are completing the details.
