OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Twenty-nine people have been arrested in Oakland, California during a protest that started peacefully but turned violent.

Police say a march last night by about 130 people was mostly peaceful until some protesters started throwing bricks and bottles at officers, tagging buildings and tossing trash cans. Five outside agencies were called in to help.

Oakland and nearby Berkeley, Calif. have been at the center of several violent protests over the last month following grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers in the deaths of two unarmed black men in Missouri and New York.
