Third grader dies of meningitis

ATLANTA, Ga. (CNN) – An eight-year-old Georgia student who contracted a form of bacterial meningitis has died.

The girl passed away Friday night at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Doctors did diagnosed her with pneumonia Meningitis and put her on life support.

She went to Providence Elementary School in Temple.
According to Dr. Vaughnette Jones, “there is no potential risk for when children go back to school on Tuesday. They won’t be exposed to it.”

Doctors say that meningitis is not like a live virus that’s on contact with the desks or even on the school bus.
