‘Walk for Wishes’ kick-off to be held at Skyzone

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Walk For Wishes 5K Walk/Run Kick-off Party will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 9 a.m. at SkyZone located at 14181 South Tamiami Trail.

The Kick-off Party, sponsored by SkyZone, will allow participants to: register for the Walk/Run; meet other team captains; and collect great team fundraising tips and materials. To get everyone motivated, a wish child will speak about what their wish meant to them. Plus, attendees will enjoy an hour of free jump time at SkyZone when registered to walk.

The party will also include a complimentary breakfast sponsored by Scott Craven.

The Walk/Run will be held on April 18 2015 at the Florida Gulf Coast University Recreation Fields located at 10501 FGCU Boulevard South in Fort Myers and will benefit Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida.

About the WALK/RUN: The fundraiser is a certified timed 5K walk/run with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and walk/run beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Family Fun Day, which includes food, face painting, a rock climbing wall and more activities, will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. All ages are encouraged to participate in the event to help make wishes come true for local children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Pre-registration fees for the Walk for Wishes are $25 for adults, $15 for students and $10 for children 12 years of age and younger.  Event-day registration is $30 for adults, $20 for students and $15 for children 12 and younger.

Registration is available online at www.walkforwishesfla.net to sign up as an individual or to register a team.  A team consists of a minimum of four people; each team member must register online and pay entry fee prior to the event. Team members receive a t-shirt if registered by April 2, 2015. Any team that raises $2,500 or more will be named a partner in sponsoring a child’s wish, and any team that raises $5,000 or more will be named a wish sponsor.

Barb and Rick Gallo, Chairs for the Walk/Run,  encourage the community to help them reach this year’s goal of raising enough money to grant 20 local wishes. Make-A-Wish Southern Florida grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
