ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) – Authorities have identified the pilot who was killed when his small plane crashed at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

Authorities said the pilot, 24-year-old Marshall Casey Barath of Nampa, Idaho, was the only person onboard when he crashed Wednesday. He was conducting a training exercise where the plane lands on the runway and takes off again without coming to a full stop. An airport spokesman said Barath lost control of the twin engine Cessna as he was about to take off.

Local authorities and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

The Tampa Bay Times  reports the plane was registered to Jet Aircraft Management in Sarasota.

No other flights were delayed or diverted by the crash.
