FORT MYERS,Fla.- Erick Walker says he knows what its like to grow up fast. Raised in one of Miami’s roughest neighborhoods he adopted the ways of the streets early on.
Walker says two stints in prison, which took nine years of his life, did little to prepare him for what he needed to tackle life successfully.
Now, he brings his own blend of street ministry, gospel of the bible and basketball, to the Fort Myers youth. Walker says connecting with kids on the courts is a powerful and effective way to reach young people.
If you’d like to join forces with Walker, you’ll usually find him with his Transformers Club at Roberto Clemente park from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays.
