DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say a central Florida man was arrested after trying to sell a stolen car back to its owner.

Daytona Beach police say 20-year-old Devin Hoyt-Thayer was arrested last week and charged with dealing in stolen property and resisting arrest.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://goo.gl/Lm8g02 ) reports that the car’s owner told police he got a call from someone claiming to know where his car was. The person told the owner to meet at a nearby store with $150, and someone would bring him his car keys.

Officers accompanied the car owner to the meeting. Police say Hoyt-Thayer arrived but ran when he saw approaching officers. Authorities say Hoyt-Thayer tried to hide inside a nearby auto parts store but was captured.
