PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Hundreds of people attended a benefit for 18-year-old Kyle Farishian at Porky’s Roadhouse in Port Charlotte on Sunday.

“He was a great kid. Bobby said he was the kind of kid that lived positive everyday. Never wanted her to be sad, no one to be sad, he wanted everyone to be happy all of the time,” Darcy Woods said. Woods is a member of the Kyle Farishian Benefit for Life Committee which organized the fundraiser.

Farishian was shot to death while working the overnight shift at a 7-Eleven in Punta Gorda on November 1st. The suspect set the building on fire before fleeing the scene.

“Kyle was, I want to say ambushed, because it wasn’t a robbery,” DJ Bubba Love, who emceed the event, said.

People from all over the state of Florida came out to the benefit to enjoy live music, food, and games. All of the money will go to Farishian’s family.

“It shows you that there’s still some good human beings right now,” Billybob, a friend of the family, said.

“The inside is packed; there’s probably 250 people inside.”

“It’s just so touching to know that the community has everybody’s back,” Billybob said.

His parents say they’re doing whatever they can to find justice for their son and keep his story out there.

“As a father, J.J. has really been pushing. He’s just asking, please keep sharing this story we need to find an answer,” DJ Bubba Love said.

“I really hope that we did a lot of good for this family and I just, I pray and I hope everyday that this gets fixed.”
