First responders fight to gain legal use of emergency narcotics

NAPLES, Fla. – Collier County paramedics administer controlled substances on a number of emergency calls. They give painkillers to car crash victims, provide medication to stop seizures and sedatives to calm erratic behavior. However, the practice is illegal according to federal law.
