PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — A man is hospitalized in critical condition after intentionally plunging onto concrete decking at the Charlotte County Jail on Friday, the same day he received a 15-year prison sentence, authorities said.
Former Englewood resident David Franklin Szakalos, 54, was given 15 years in prison for burglary and battery charges, with another 15 years of probation. No further information was immediately available.
