Local nonprofit gives race horses a life after the track

Published: Updated:

NAPLES, Fla. – A nonprofit in Collier County is working to take former race horses and find them a new home in retirement and what better place to retire than Southwest Florida.

Track to Trail Thoroughbred takes racing horses that have been injured or have finished their racing days and helps place them in a new home in Lee or Collier County.

Founder, Cynthia Gilbert, works with a number of volunteers to care for the horses and bring them back to full health, ultimately finding them a new place to call home.

To adopt a horse from Track to Trail Thoroughbred you must have the space and the ability to care for a thoroughbred horse and live in Lee or Collier Counties.
