TAMPA, Fla. — A man accused of a kidnapping that prompted a Florida AMBER Alert earlier this month faces a penalty of up to life in prison in the wake of a federal indictment handed down Thursday.

West Wild Hogs, 31, is charged with abducting 4-year-old Rebecca Lewis from her home in Lakeland on Oct. 8. Hogs and the girl were later found in Tennessee, and Lewis was returned to her family.

AMBER Alerts were issued in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee in addition to Florida.

Hogs, a former friend of the Lewis family, showed up at their home and was seen driving a car his mother had reported stolen. He was named in the AMBER Alert as the potential abductor.

Hogs legally changed his name from Matthew Pybus.
