Suspect arrested after deputies swarm Cape Coral neighborhood

CAPE CORAL, Fla. Armed Lee County deputies donned in bullet-proof vests arrested an unknown suspect Thursday at S.E. 32 Terrace.

The owner of the house is an elderly man who rents his complex to tenants, neighbors said. The suspect who was taken into custody had been staying with the homeowner for quite some time.

When deputies arrived at the home and asked for the suspect, he fled on foot until deputies were able to capture him, witnesses said.

Deputies towed a white Chevy Equinox out of the driveway, which appeared to belong to the homeowner, according to neighbors.

The suspect is currently in custody, although the reason for his arrest is unknown.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office couldn’t be reached for additional information.
