Everblades fall to Solar Bears in first game of South Division Semifinals

ESTERO, Fla. The Florida Everblades lost to the Orlando Solar Bears Wednesday night 4-2 in game one of the South Division Semifinals at Germain Arena.

The win gave Orlando a 1-0 lead in the seven-game series.

The first period remained scoreless until the Solar Bears’ goal with 8:39 left.

The ‘Blades responded with a shot from forward Matt Berry, making it a 1-1 game.

But the ‘Blades got into penalty trouble early in the second period, which the Solar Bears took advantage of with another goal off defenseman Taylor Doherty, giving Orlando a 2-1 lead.

Orlando scored another goal with 9:09 left, extending their lead 3-1.

The ‘Blades didn’t score again until 11 seconds into the third period, narrowing the score 3-2.

However, despite several chances, the ‘Blades were unable to score and the Solar Bears added another goal to the scoreboard, clinching the victory.

The two teams will face each other again for game two Friday at Germain Arena at 7:30 p.m.
