LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. One person was wounded in an accidental shooting Wednesday morning on Damen Street, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
The shooting happened around 7:45 a.m. on the 1200 block of Damen Street East, according to a source. The victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital.
The sheriff’s office does not suspect foul play. The victim initially reported the shooting as a drive-by, but that’s not the case, according to the sheriff’s office.
Keith Butler, a 13-year resident of the neighborhood on Damen Street, was worried but also said he hadn’t seen much crime on his street.
“(It’s) very concerning I don’t want that in my neighborhood,” Butler said.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting were unclear.
