With another ASUN tournament in the books and another conference title earned for FGCU women’s basketball, it means the Eagles have punched their ticket to another NCAA tournament. And the Eagles learned their fate sooner than expected when information got out too soon.
ESPNU accidentally leaked the entire women’s NCAA tournament bracket online hours ahead of its planned release Monday.
FGCU is scheduled to face University of Miami women’s basketball in Coral Gables Friday for the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Head coach Karl Smesko expressed no concern regarding the leaked information.
“I think wherever we get seeded we’ll probably be competitive and have a chance to win in the first round,” Smesko said. “So we’re excited to just get the opportunity and seeing who we’re matched up with.”
