Florida Highway Patrol confirmed Richard Deming Jr., 54, from North Port died after being hit by a car on his bike near Plantation in Sarasota County Saturday night.
According to FHP, the crash happened around 9:10 p.m. Deming was riding a bike southbound in the northbound lane on U.S. 41 north of Rockley Boulevard. A driver in a 2010 Honda Accord was traveling northbound north of Rockley Blvd., and the right corner of the car hit the front of the bike.
Deming was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
