There are thousands of seniors in Florida who can’t leave their home or have trouble leaving their home. Gov. Ron DeSantis says 1,500 of them have already been vaccinated by state strike teams, but now there is another way for homebound seniors to get that shot in the arm. The governor says homebound seniors can now send an email to HomeboundVaccine@em.myflorida.com to sign up to get a shot at home. To date, more than 1,500 homebound seniors have been vaccinated by state strike teams. Today, the state is launching a new way for homebound seniors to sign up to have the vaccine come directly to them. Please email HomeboundVaccine@em.myflorida.com to put in your request. — Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) March 11, 2021 Sandra Franchino’s mom is homebound. She was able to get her out of the home just for her vaccine, but she’s glad more homebound seniors won’t have to leave home for their shot. “That’s near and dear to my heart. I’m so happy for the seniors,” Franchino said. “I for one immediately called many of my mom’s friends to check and see if they had gotten the vaccine yet or not.” Franchino told us she thinks the state should also consider having a phone number just for homebound seniors to call and put in their request.
