80-year-old pedestrian killed in Iona collision Monday night

An 80-year-old Fort Myers woman was killed after being struck by a car while crossing the street in Iona Monday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car driven by a 32-year-old Fort Myers man was traveling north on McGregor Boulevard around 7:40 p.m., changing from the outside to the inside lane. The pedestrian was walking west across McGregor Boulevard from the east sidewalk when the front of the car collided with her.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash investigation is still ongoing.
