Three Broward County residents were arrested on Wednesday after Collier deputies said they stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Naples big box store. Deputies did not specify what store the three stole the items from.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Fields, 33, Jessica Thompson and Russell Gaskin, both 28, face charges of grand theft.

The three led deputies on a car chase across Alligator Alley and were eventually captured by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office after they found the SUV in Fort Lauderdale, the Collier sheriff said. Fields is also facing a charge of fleeing and eluding.

Deputies say the trio loaded up multiple shopping carts with electronics, appliances and other merchandise and then left the store through an emergency exit without paying. They fled in a white 2019 Volkswagen SUV, the sheriff’s office said. The stolen merchandise was valued at $5,000 to $7,000.

The three were booked into Broward County Jail but will be extradited to Collier County.
