Fort Myers Police Department is searching for a man accused of attempting to steal from a Home Depot.

Police say on September 13, the suspect entered the Home Depot on Forum Boulevard. He began to select various merchandise and placed the items into a shopping cart. The suspect proceeded to exit the business through the garden entrance and exit doors, passing all points of sale with the shopping cart of unpaid merchandise without attempting to pay, according to FMPD.

Officers say the suspect, when confronted by Loss Prevention, abandoned the shopping cart. The suspect then entered a white, older model two-door pick-up truck as a passenger and fled the scene.

The male suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a gray long-sleeve t-shirt, blue jeans, white shoes, sunglasses, and a baseball-style hat, according to FMPD.

The business’s total loss amounted to approximately $795.61.
