Two convicted felons were arrested early Tuesday morning after deputies say they were seen wandering a part of East Naples hard-hit by Hurricane Ian after curfew.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Department, George Stidham, 50, and James Darrel Markley, 39, are documented gang members and registered convicted felons in Collier County. Their criminal histories include violent crimes, theft and narcotic activity, according to arrest reports.

Deputies saw Markley and Stidham walking around Bayshore Drive and Becca Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. A mandatory curfew of midnight to 6 a.m. is in effect for areas of Collier County west and south of US-41. When deputies asked the two men why they were out past curfew, Markley and Stidham said they were out for a walk and heading home, even though Markley lives in Chokoloskee and Stidham lives in Fort Myers.

Markley and Stidham were taken into custody. They face charges of violating an emergency order.
