It’s a big day for Billy’s Rentals on Sanibel because the shop is reopening to the public for the first time since Hurricane Ian.

The owner, Billy Kirkland, made a big impact on the community after the storm.

Kirkland provided bikes for people on the island since the storm, and for a while that was the only way to get around.

If you’ve been to Sanibel, you probably know Billy’s Rentals.

Ian took a toll on the well-known establishment, but Kirkland told WINK News he’s done everything he can to help others on the island since the storm and is excited to be back in business.

Sunday he opened his doors to the rest of the public and invites everyone to come out and have a great day.

Kirkland told WINK News he’s focused on helping people on the island before re-opening his business.

Kirkland has built such a well-known presence in Sanibel that Holly Smith, the mayor of Sanibel, came by for the celebration.

“Billy gives so much back to this island. He always has. So it’s really about our community, about what people do in our community, and Billy is just an amazing contributor,” Smith said.

To celebrate the reopening, Billy’s will have free hot dogs, bbq, ice cream, and bike rentals.
