FORT MYERS, Fla.- Police are trying to find a suspect in the murder of a young man found dead Wednesday at Shady Oaks Park.

Authorities have identified the victim as 17-year-old Amisael Rivera.

Police say a mosquito control worker was taking samples from the creek in the park around 9 a.m., when he found Rivera’s body. Officials say this marks the second death in the park this year. A 27-year-old man was shot and killed in the park back in April.

“I just can tell you that it’s not natural causes, it is a homicide,” said Lieutenant Jay Rodriguez.

This the tenth murder in Fort Myers in 2014. Community leaders are asking, when will the violence stop?

“It’s sad and it doesn’t matter where it is in the city, the council and the mayor and everybody that’s involved is kind of sick and tired of it. We’re sick and tired of being sick and tired of it,” said Councilman Johnny Streets.

Police have been talking to people in the surrounding neighborhoods, trying to find out what may have happened at Shady Oaks Park.

Anyone who has any information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
