Red Sox player tweets soggy golf photo

FORT MYERS, Fla. – When Boston Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts told reporters he wanted to “play a couple rounds of golf” he probably didn’t envision a soggy end to the game.

On Sunday, during a break from spring training in Fort Myers, Betts tweeted a photo of a golf cart submerged in a pond.

“No driving for me,” he captioned the tweet.

His team arrived Saturday and will be spending the next few months working out and playing at JetBlue Park. But the players apparently have time to sneak in extracurricular activities.

It’s not clear whether Betts was in the golf cart that landed in water. But Sunday, he denied rumors about driving the cart.

“For the record I didn’t drive into the pond. It rolled in there. Just clearing that up,” he tweeted.
