LABELLE, Fla. – Traffic was rerouted after an estimated 50 to 100 gallons of diesel spilled on Friday at West Cowboy Way and West State Road 80 near LaBelle.
Crews were on scene for nearly six hours cleaning the spill, but LaBelle Fire Captian Scott Russell said the cause of the spill is unknown.
“We have no idea what vehicle caused it, where it went, anything like that,” Russell said. “All we know when we pulled up on scene we had severe oil slick here on the intersection.”
The spill was about half a mile long and a quarter mile wide, Russel said.
Roads were reopened shortly before 6 p.m.
