Florida Everblades look to finish strong

ORLANDO, Fla. The Florida Everblades earned another victory Wednesday night in a 5-1 shellacking of the Orlando Solar Bears at the Amway Center, a team the ‘Blades could face in the first round of the ECHL playoffs.

While the ‘Blades may have clinched the home ice advantage throughout the playoffs and have nothing to play for over the next two games, the team isn’t dealing in technicalities.

“You’re playing to win,” said forward Brendan O’Donnell, who was named to the All-ECHL Second Team. “It doesn’t matter if you need a win, or you don’t need a win, you’re going to try to win. If you lose and you see the other team celebrating, it doesn’t sit well.”

Fellow forward Michael Kirkpatrick shared O’Donnell’s sentiments.

“Every single game is important for us and every single game from now on is important.” he said. “We have to rev up for playoffs.”

The ‘Blades will face the Solar Bears Friday at the Amway Center at 7 p.m.
