Jay Rodriguez (Photo Credit: Lee County Sheriff’s Office) The Florida Department of Law Enforcement believes a controversial video shows a now-former Fort Myers Police Department captain engaged in a sex act while undercover. According to discovered evidence the state made public, investigators believe FMPD had the video for years and nobody did anything about it. On March 14, 2013, then Lt. Jay Rodriguez recorded himself during an undercover prostitution sting. FDLE investigators believe Rodriguez engaged in a sex act, then tried to cover it up. Contained within 745 pages of documents is evidence that Rodriguez then wrote what now appears to be a false narrative about what happened inside the massage parlor. That false narrative became part of the official report. FDLE launched an investigation in February of this year after a WINK News investigation. Now, we know a fellow officer, Donald Weathers, told FDLE he saw the video a couple of days after the sting in 2013. Weathers said Officer Jason Greene showed it to him and Officer Wolfgang Daniel. Weathers admitted he was too scared to report what he saw because of the power Rodriguez had. But he admitted he made a copy of the video should something ever happen. In their statements to FDLE, Greene and Daniel denied they ever knew about the video. Submit Copyright ©2025 Fort Myers Broadcasting. All rights reserved.
