Bayfront community loses entertainment permit

A small community by the water is losing its ability to have live music because the city of Naples said they violated their entertainment permit. 

Last year, the city said they had live entertainment on a Wednesday, they’re only allowed to have it Thursday through Sunday.

The people WINK News met with are not happy and they believe the live music brought people together making the Bayfront community unique.

Bayfront has everything where it’s located, bay view condos, marina shops, restaurants, a bar, and live entertainment.

But, during Wednesday’s Naples city council meeting the city stripped Bayfront of its permit after two official violations. Those that work at Bayfront, like Nick Costanza, said it’s going to be bad for business.

“Oh yeah, it brought a whole bunch of people, it was more fun for us too as workers,” Costanza said.

Documents state in December of last year, a live band was playing on a Wednesday.

The permit only allows that to happen from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

The second violation came in May after officers on patrol did a noise level reading and it was above the permitted amount.

The owner of the property, Kevin Stoneburner, said those noise decibals could be impacted by surrounding sounds, like loud cars.

Prestin Speers, an employee at Bayfront shared some thoughts with WINK News about what’s going on.

“It’s a little sad that they want to revoke our license when we bring such a small community together,” Spears said.

While Bayfront resident, Andrew Martorano, explained his thoughts from a different angle.

“I don’t think a few should speak for many,” Martorano said.

As for what’s next, we’re not sure yet but the owner said this decision is unreasonable and unfair.
