Blue, purple, and green neon lights are on the underside of the car that struck a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle and could help identify it.

“It’s one of those things that every person driving a car has to be responsible. And should you make a mistake? Part of that responsibility is to stay on scene,” FHP Lieutenant Gregory Bueno said.

Lieutenant Bueno told WINK News the driver didn’t stay at the scene after the crash. Investigators need help finding the offender.

Investigators said it’s a 2006 to 2011 Honda Civic and likely blue or dark in color. The car will have damage to the right side and neon lights on the underside.

Elaina Daly said the driver’s decision to flee the scene was not only illegal but also wrong.

“That’s just gonna get you more trouble than you already are in. So, if you’re leaving, like, that just shows how you are as a person. Like, that’s just really sad if you just leave,” Daly said.

“We’re looking for someone that should have stayed in the first place,” Lieutenant Bueno said.

If you believe you have seen the vehicle involved, call FHP or Crime Stoppers.
