56-year-old woman struck and killed by car on U.S. 41 in Estero

Florida Highway Patrol says a 56-year-old woman from Bonita Springs was struck and killed by a car as she was walking down U.S. 41 in Estero.

According to FHP, the unidentified victim was walking in the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 near Estero Parkway intersection when a vehicle traveling south on the inside lanes struck the woman with the front of their car.

The woman, whose name has not been released until next of kin is notified died from her injuries.

Charges are pending as the deadly incident is under investigation.
