Whether it’s fires, hurricanes or the pandemic, there’s a network of people standing by help in Collier County.

It has been one week since a fire blazed through thousands of acres in the Golden Gate Estates area causing some families to lose everything.

For them, there’s a whole army behind the scenes jumping into action.

“We want to meet whatever that need is they have whether it’s with a bag of groceries or maybe even food for a week, if it’s a voucher to our family store where they can get clothes that were maybe lost in the fires,” said Capt. Ben Bridges of Naples Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army said the biggest need for these families right now is food and housing.

Bridges said they have case managers who can direct them in the right direction of other resources.

It costs money to help these families out and that’s where the Community Foundation of Collier County comes in to collect donations and distribute funds to nonprofits just like the Salvation Army.

Both of these organizations have also assisted families that have lost their jobs during the pandemic while preparing for the help people may need during the approaching hurricane season.
