Domino’s wants you to pick up your order instead of having it delivered because the pizza chain is dealing with a severe worker shortage.

It is the same problem affecting many other businesses as employees quit their jobs in record numbers.

Luis likes his pizza, “I like pizza! Hahahaaa.” But for Francisco, what he enjoys on his pizza is not for everyone, “anchovies.”

No matter what you like on your pizza, Domino’s has a new way for everyone to cash in when getting one. The company promises to give anyone money to skip delivery and pick up online orders.

The pizza chain has created a $3 “Tip” for people who pick up their pies to deal with the nationwide shortage of workers.

Larry Davidoff said, “I mean, it’s a good idea. You know, for people that wanna go pick up their pizza. I mean, obviously, there’s a crisis going on everywhere with employees and staff.”

For Davidoff, the $3 tip won’t persuade him to get Domino’s, “I’m from Philly, and it’s just not my kinda pizza.”

WINK News reporter Michael Hidak decided to test out Domino’s $3 tip for people who pick up their online orders. When he showed up to pick up his pizza, sure enough, Domino’s had the $3 tip for him.

Sunem, who lives in Cape Coral, is happy that Domino’s is working around the shortage. “I think that’s awesome. Probably going to try that next time.”

In a press release on Domino’s website, Executive President and Chief Marketing Officer Art D’elia said, “It takes skill to get pizza from a Domino’s store to your door. As a reward, Domino’s is giving a $3 tip to online carryout customers who take the time and energy out of their day to act as their own delivery drivers. After all, we think they deserve it.”

Domino’s says carryout customers who order online are eligible to claim the $3 coupon code, which is redeemable for another online carryout order placed the following week with a minimum purchase of $5 before tax and tip. The deal runs until May 22.
