Lee County Sheriff’s deputies have located a person of interest in a gated community south of Olga after law enforcement activity put two nearby schools briefly under lockout Wednesday morning.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office had patrol vehicles, a drone, and a circling helicopter in Hampton Lakes at River Hall.

According to the School District of Lee County, “River Hall Elementary and Buckingham Exceptional were on lockout for about 20 minutes because of some off-campus law enforcement activity. Both returned to normal operations before 9.”

“We have located the subject we were looking for,” LCSO tweeted. “Investigation active and ongoing.”

Dustin Jacobs said he got rattled when he saw so many deputies in his backyard as he was eating breakfast.

“I said, ‘Is everyone OK, do I need to lock my doors?’ And he said, ‘Yes, we are searching for somebody, get inside.’ And I was like, OK, so I just jumped inside, locked all my doors. We got a bunch of police officers that live in the neighborhood. I’ve never even seen a speeding ticket,” said Jacobs.

The sheriff’s office has not shared any information about the disturbance call or their person of interest.

Jacobs said he’s glad the scene didn’t get any worse.
