A 48-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after deputies say he punched a minor in the middle of the roadway after a road rage incident.

Larry Allen Day faces a charge of cruelty toward a child for the incident, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened near the intersection of S. Tamiami Trail and Broadway Ave. E. in Estero.

Witnesses said Day brake checked the vehicle the boy was traveling in. Day then got out of the car and “began filming them and got in their faces.”

That’s when the boy got out of the car to push Day away, but instead, Day punched him in the throat, according to the sheriff’s office.

The arrest report redacted the victim’s age.

The boy fell to the ground and began to have what appeared to be a seizure while wheezing, according to the arrest report.

Day remains in custody on a $5,000 bond at the Lee County Jail, records show.
