A North Naples man was arrested and accused of shooting at a neighbor he was upset with for making too much noise.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Black, 55, just before 11:30 a.m. on Monday at an apartment on Ilex Circle after receiving a report of a possibly drunk man who had shot at another person.

Deputies say Black had left his apartment and saw a neighbor. They say he asked that neighbor if they were responsible for making a lot of noise he had heard recently.

The neighbor told deputies that he told Black the noise resulted from him redoing his floors. The neighbor said Black responded by saying, “well then, I’m going to have to shoot you.”

The neighbor told deputies that Black then pointed a gun at him and fired a single shot in his general direction.

Deputies say the neighbor ran off and yelled for Black to put the gun away.

When deputies arrived, they arrested Black as he walked out of his residence. They say Black admitted to pointing a gun at his neighbor, saw they were scared, and shot a round into the ground. They say he did not give a reason for threatening his neighbor.

Inside Black’s home, deputies found a black handgun on a table near the door and 16 other handguns and three rifles inside the home.

Deputies tested the alcohol levels on Black’s breath twice after his arrest and received 0.280 and 0.293 results.

Black was taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and firing a gun in public.
