Collier County voters decided the three school board races on the ballot on Tuesday.

The incumbents are out, and Alfie Oakes picks for the school board are three for three.

Jerry Rutherford, Kelly Lichter, and Timothy Moshier are all winners in Tuesday’s race. All three were backed by the Republican Executive Committee of Collier County.

Lichter told WINK News she ran a fair race while under “an onslaught of attacks since the primary.”

But, Lichter will put that in the rearview mirror and focus on what she wants to accomplish moving forward.

“The academic achievement is, of course, priority number one, and I have a great plan that will accomplish that goal which will raise the standards for kids, not just for the classroom academics, but I’m talking discipline, decorum. We also are going to be in the position now to the next superintendent, and that is a huge decision because this hire is the most important hire that this school board will have,” Lichter said.

“How can a child learn if they are not brought into some kind of discipline I’m not saying that we have to go back to paddling that may be a good solution what I’m saying is there Hass to be some kind of discipline,” Rutherford said.

Jen Mitchell, Roy Terry, and Jory Westberry told WINK News the number one concern they have is their opponents never laid out what they stand for.
