Popular Southwest Florida chef and caterer Brian Roland and his wife Nicole are suing Ferrari Naples and other businesses after a car lift left him critically injured and hospitalized for over a month in 2021.

Roland seeks compensatory damages, costs, interest, and a jury trial.

According to the lawsuit, Roland, 42, was at Ferrari Naples, located at 11291 Tamiami Trail N., on Dec. 4, 2021, providing catering for its grand opening party, when he slipped off a car lift that was being used to transport supplies between floors of the building. While unconscious on the ground floor, the lift descended and crushed Roland. His recovery lasted into 2022.

The Crave Culinaire owner is suing Ferrari Naples because he says the company told Roland and his employees to use the lift in that manner. His lawsuit maintains Ferrari Naples should not have done so, knowing that the car lift was not designed for passenger use.

Multiple businesses are named in the lawsuit, including Collier County, which inspected the lift when it was installed.
