The Holocaust Museum and Cohen Education Center is preparing for a leadership change. Erin Blankenship will assume the roles of president and CEO of the Naples Museum.
Susan Suarez, the current president and CEO, announced her retirement effective March 14. Suarez joined the museum in 2017 and has overseen significant growth during her tenure.
“Creating this amazing facility is something I’m very proud of and was such a team effort,” said Suarez. “Of course, we have a wonderful staff. We have dedicated volunteers and very generous donors who all came together to create this amazing facility. It’s not just having this facility, but what goes on in here and how we reach out into the community.”
As the new CEO, Blankenship brings over 20 years of experience from the Florida Holocaust Museum in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
She expressed her enthusiasm about joining the team, particularly during a time when antisemitism was on the rise.
The museum continues its mission by offering free educational opportunities, such as school field trips and guest speakers for students. They wish to teach the lessons of the Holocaust to inspire actions against hatred and to promote mutual respect.
