A male suspect is wanted in Lee County after he was accused of attempting to rob a south Fort Myers convenience store with a weapon during early hours Sunday morning. According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, a suspect with a metal pipe entered a 7-Eleven convenience store at 11700 S Cleveland Avenue (US-41) just after 1 a.m. The armed suspect approached the store clerk and demanded all the cash in the register. After being struck by the suspect, the clerk went around from behind the counter and chased the suspect out of the store, who left without any money. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, between 5-feet, 5-inches tall and 5-feet-7-inches tall, with a husky build and a tattoo on the side of his neck. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
